howtoguides.online is a reading site. There is no account to create, nothing to buy, no form to fill in and no newsletter to join. This page explains, in plain terms, exactly what happens when you read a page here.
Who is responsible
howtoguides.online is operated from Belgium by BeeRanked ("we", "us"), which acts as the data controller for the processing described below. Full legal entity details are available on request at privacy@beeranked.online.
We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the "GDPR") and applicable Belgian data protection law.
Questions about anything on this page, or about your rights under it, go to privacy@beeranked.online.
A quick summary
We collect nothing from you. This site has no account, no form, no analytics and no advertising, and it sets no cookies. Reading a page necessarily reveals your IP address to the company that serves it, and that is the whole of it.
What we collect
Nothing directly. We do not ask you for any information, and the site gives you no way to send us any.
We do not use analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, no advertising network and no fingerprinting on this site.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
That is why you have not been asked to accept anything. A cookie banner exists to collect consent for storage that is not strictly necessary. There is none here, so there is nothing to consent to.
One exception, described below: if you choose to play an embedded video, the video provider may set its own cookies at that moment.
What happens technically when you load a page
Serving a page means your device has to contact a server, and that necessarily involves your IP address.
Hosting and delivery, Cloudflare. These pages are stored on Cloudflare R2 and served through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare processes your IP address, the page you requested, your browser's user-agent string and the time of the request, in order to deliver the page and to protect the site against attack and abuse. Cloudflare also receives automatic browser reports about failed requests (Network Error Logging).
Publishing platform, BeeRanked. This site is built and published on BeeRanked, which operates the hosting described above.
We do not receive, keep, or have access to a record of who read which page.
When a third party gets involved
Two things on this site can make your browser contact someone else. Neither happens on an ordinary page.
Pages with code examples. A page containing a code block loads a syntax-highlighting stylesheet and script from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. That request shows your IP address to Cloudflare. Pages without code never make it.
Videos. An embedded video is a still image until you click it. Nothing is requested from the video provider before that click. If you do click, your browser contacts YouTube, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy rather than this one.
Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools
We use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. These report aggregate statistics about our own pages: which search terms showed them, how often, and how many people clicked. That data comes from Google and Microsoft, not from this site, and it does not identify individual readers.
Legal basis and retention
The processing described above is limited to what is necessary to serve and secure the site, and rests on our legitimate interest in operating it (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We hold no reader data ourselves. Log data held by the providers above is kept under their own retention schedules, not ours.
International transfers
Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft are established in the United States. Where data reaches them, it is transferred under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask for access to personal data concerning you, ask us to correct or erase it, object to or restrict its processing, and ask for it in a portable form.
Because we hold no reader data, there is in practice usually nothing for us to hand over. Write to privacy@beeranked.online anyway and we will tell you honestly what exists.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. In Belgium that is the Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorite de protection des donnees, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels. You may also complain to the authority in the country where you live.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any data about them.
Changes to this page
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If we ever start collecting something, analytics or a newsletter or anything else, this page will say so before it happens, not after.
